Cecil and Ruth Gilbert Memorial Golf Match 2024

Many thanks to all those who participated in the 22nd Annual Cecil & Ruth Gilbert Memorial Golf Match at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course on 26th August 2024.

The sun was shining and we all had a great day golfing on the Dunstanburgh Links .

Overall a total of £1388.20 excluding Gift Aid tax refund was raised from the golf, buffet, raffle, sponsors and auction.

This year's charity was Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care. A big thank you to Ray and Margaret from the charity who attended and gave us an insight into how important the charity’s work is. To find out more visit the link here

In past years Canon Christopher Smith has been the Master of Ceremonies and played a key part in running the event. He ia a dear friend I have known from when we were both 8 years old and he knew Ruth and Cecil well. Owing to serious illness he was unable to attend this year. All involved this year extend him their thoughts and best wishes.

I was very grateful to Arlana, Jayne & Mel from the golf club for running the golf competition and organising the raffle, auction, and buffet - along with all the other Clubhouse staff. Also, of course, my thanks to Stuart, Sam and all the Greens staff for ensuring such excellent course playing conditions on the day!
